Pakistan's obsession with religion

So here I am back in Pakistan, and I can not help but notice (or more like re-notice) the obsession Pakistanis seem to have with religion. Everywhere or anywhere you look, religion will be the thing flaunted on your face. What is even more blatant is the subsequent hypocrisy that inevitable comes. Simply amazing that people cannot see what is happening.

You will have vendors with beards, pretending to be the pious of all and then clearly trying to rip you off. You will have the drawing room polite religious talks and then the same people going out and saying the most vile things without remorse, regret or second thoughts. It's as if flaunting religion becomes their invisibility cloak to do anything immoral or in-ethical. Everything is fine as long as you do it with the name of God.

What you end up having is a dishonest society wrapped in this wonderful excuse of religion. Me, I would rather be honest in a secular society than drown in the dishonesty of religious one.
